I am a live, altruistic donor, and I have joined to gain perspective. I hope
to meet my recipient in a few months, on our one year anniversary, and all that
I know about him is that he is a young man. that he is doing great, and that he
wants to meet me and my family!
My name is Stephanie, I am happily married, we have five children, Ty 28,
married to Shannon with our grandchildren, Kendra, Tristan and Tylan, 9, 8 and
7. We have Trey 25, just back from Baghdad, Iraq and married on July 2nd to
Kylene, we have Chris 25, also just back from Baghdad, Iraq, married for two
years to Amanda and they called last night to tell us we are going to be
grandparents to their first child in 8 months! We have McKayla, 22, married to
Mark and they have our currently youngest grandchildren, Noah is 2, and Luke is
1. Lindsay, our youngest, is 15, and in love! At 49 and 45, we are the proud
grandparents of almost 6! All of our children, and Harold, my husband, and my
rock, were great support when I decided to donate. I won't say that they weren't
surprised, but, they were supportive!
It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life, and I would do it again
tomorrow! I cannot convey the blessing that this young man has been to me, he
changed my life every bit as much as I am praying I changed his! I would
appreciate any thoughts that any of you might have on his point of view. I don't
want him to ever feel obligated to me, I want him to understand what this meant
for me, the need is so great....I wish that there was an awareness of altruistic
donation...I had to do so much research to find a doctor willing to hear me out!
I will leave it at that for now, I tend to get very excited when I find the
minority that can relate to my feelings, and I could talk forever! Thank you
again for allowing me to be a small part of your world! God Bless and be well,
Stephanie
